No change as the times are confirmed... Rosberg quickest, followed by Alonso, Schumacher, Button and Hamilton in that order.
The chequered flag is up and Hamilton is mid-lap, a touch faster here from the last one and he may improve further... He was on pole last year, if you remember, with a time half a second quicker than Rosberg has gone today.
Button improves his same by a fraction, but still a second off the warmed-up Rosberg. Fourth or fifth I think. Fourth. Hamilton crosses in a time a tenth slower, he's fifth.
Trulli has some trouble at the chicane... Rosberg emerges from the car in a lot of discomfort, hot and sweaty. Possibly hot air flowing into the cockpit. Deary me. Mercedes's cooling problems continue.
Rosberg pits saying on the radio that his body feels a burning sensation. Weird.
Hamilton is back out on a set of new soft tyres as Button fizzes around...
After a break Rosberg has extended his lead to 1:15.591.
Di Resta has recovered from that spin earlier and moves up to fifth, 1:17.294.
Good next lap from the Bulgarian though as he moves up six places to 10th.
Petrov around four or five seconds off the pace... five and half in the end, in 24th.
Rosberg's next lap moves him atop the pile, 1:16.002.
Some great splits from Rosberg here, six hundredths off coming into the last corner... and he moves to second, a tenth off Alonso.
Trilli in the pits now as Rosberg shows some good speed starting out his next lap...
Perez coming round well off the pace, seven or eight seconds or so...
Alonso still leading the timesheets at 1:16.139, Massa and Button following with Rosberg in fourth.
Hamilton does a PB for the first sector, just over 40s... He becomes straight through the final chicane, the eighth driver to do so.
Heidfeld also having problems at Morris, spinning out and returning without too much disaster.
Paul di Resta takes a massive slide at the final chicane, Trulli just about avoiding him... Di Resta is back on track as Button slides about a bit. Lack of grip from the softer tyres...
After a quick delay we can continue. Not too much debris was on the track.
He sounds dejected as he tells his team on the radio: "I'm fine."
Needless to say, the red flags are out. The clean-up operation begins.
The right front locked up and the initial impact was directly with the front wing then tyre.
He is okay and climbs out of the car. He rode the kerb and came into the tyre barrier sideways - the right side of the RB7 is ruined.
VETTEL SMASHES UP THE RED BULL!
Alguersuari has a moment at turn 8/9 where he shoots across the grass - as did Webber earlier on.
Kamui Kobayashi loses control and does well to not touch the wall on the right-hand side. Webber and Vettel both out in their cars, Vettel 11th at present.
Most of the drivers now in the garages, including all of the top seven: 1.Massa 2.Rosberg 3.Webber 4.Button 5.Alonso 6.Hamilton 7.Ricciardo
Felipe Massa's Ferrari is now leading the way with 1:17.431.
Hamilton's McLaren is up on blocks in the garage - his session could be over. The steering column has been removed, according to the BBC.
Nico Hulkenberg now fourth ahead of Webber. Problems for the Australian's team-mate Vettel - but he should come out soon with the Red Bull now sorted apparently.
Rosberg jumps the kerbs. He has gone fourth. Schumacher back into second spot.
Sixteen times now set, with fourth-placed Alonso back in the garage but the track quite busy.
Webber cuts across the grass at a corner and resumes safely.
Hamilton goes top of the list with 1:18.395, with Schumi back in the pits now.
All drivers on medium tyres.
Schumi goes P1 with a high 1:18, with Jaime Alguersuari second now. And Hamilton takes over P2 in the McLaren.
Hamilton out on track. Perez racing despite that massive crash at the last race in Monaco.
Jarno Trulli's Lotus hit a bird on the installation lap. Animals are a hazard on this island.
Narain Karthikeyan and Tonio Liuzzi the other drivers to set a time, in fifth and sixth.
Schumacher falls short of the Spaniard's time again, but is within a second of it.
Alonso lowers his benchmark to 1:19.981. Michael Schumacher is second, with six drivers on the board now.
Ferrari's twice world champion Fernando Alonso nips ahead with 1:22.158. Ricciardo a second slower with his next effort.
Daniel Ricciardo, again enjoying a practice runout in the Toro Rosso, sets the first time of 1:26.560. Sergio Perez is a little slower with the second timed lap of the weekend.
Nico Rosberg threatens to set the first lap-time - but then comes in. Jenson Button yet to emerge, likewise world champion Sebastian Vettel.
Lewis returns to the McLaren garage for a second time. Likely checking over some basic element of set-up.
The circuit mostly silent, but Lewis Hamilton is out on medium tyres in the McLaren.
Mark Webber concentrates intently as Red Bull work on their car. No need to rush today with only a few wispy clouds in the sky.
Mainly backmarkers out at present.
No times set as yet. Have a read of Will Gray's F1 blog.
The sun is shining in Canada as the first cars make their way out on to the circuit for a stint.
The 90-minute session underway.
McLaren look to take the battle to Red Bull in the opening practice session for this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal.
