Why McLaren has no excuses

McLaren finally introduced its 'real' 2018 Formula 1 car for the recent Spanish Grand Prix, bringing a substantial aerodynamic update to the MCL33, including radical changes to the nose and bargeboard designs.

But the car remained well adrift of fellow Renault customer team Red Bull on pace and locked in a tight midfield fight with Haas and the fledgling Renault works outfit, as lead driver Fernando Alonso described Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull as "in another league".
