Lucas di Grassi scored a sensational last-second ABB FIA Formula E victory at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez on Saturday, after a race-long duel with Pascal Wehrlein was decided in the final yards.

Ex-Sauber and Manor F1 racer Wehrlein led the race until the closing seconds from pole position, but appeared to miscalculate his energy usage in the closing stages – and ended the race on zero percent. Audi's di Grassi, who was on one percent himself, passed him just before the finish line anyway, to take an amazing win.

The race was red-flagged after a handful of laps when Nelson Piquet Jr vaulted over the back of Jean-Eric Vergne and cannoned into Alexander Sims and then smacked wall. He was unhurt.
