Galysheva bags Calgary moguls victory as Laffont takes World Cup lead
Kazakhstan's Yulia Galysheva upset reigning Olympic champion Perrine Laffont as she bagged moguls World Cup glory in Calgary.
Galysheva secured bronze at last year's Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang but the top step of the podium came her way this time around, a score of 79.10 enough for victory.
Laffont had to settle for second place just 1.14 points back while the United States' Jaelin Kauf rounded off the top three with a score of 76.10.
For Galysheva this was a first World Cup moguls victory of the season, consolidating her spot in third place in the discipline rankings after a consistent start to the campaign.
It is a great start into the new year with the win here", said the 24-year-old.
"I like Calgary and skiing here and I'm super happy how it all turned out today. I'm looking forward to the next competition in Lake Placid."
But it's Laffont who now leads the way on 320 points after her fourth podium from four events, with the next moguls event taking place in Lake Placid on January 18.
