The 22-year-old, whose silver marked her first podium finish of the season, produced a stunning performance to finish behind Jennie-Lee Burmansson.
Summerhayes took second place on 77.00, ahead of the USA's Caroline Claire who picked up the bronze medal with a score of 75.20.
Meanwhile, Oystein Braaten and Burmansson won their maiden World Cup crowns with slopestyle victories.
Braaten topped the standings in the men's event with a best score of 91.40, continuing his fine form after recording the best score of the first run.
Behind the Norwegian on the podium was Canada's Evan McEachran with a best score of 86.20 for his first World Cup medal finish, while Colby Stevenson of the USA placed third on 81.80.
Braaten sits atop the slopestyle World Cup standings ahead of Great Britain's James Woods - who didn't compete in Austria - and McEachran.
In the women's slopestyle, 15-year-old Burmansson scored 80.00 points in her first run to clinch gold.
Burmansson goes top of the slopestyle standings after two World Cups, following on from her bronze in Cardrona in August.
Giulia Tanno of Switzerland, who placed fourth in Stubai, is second with Summerhayes third.
