Thompson clinches ski cross World Cup gold in Veysonnaz
Canadian Marielle Thompson finished the season on a high as she clinched gold at the final ski cross World Cup event in Veysonnaz, Switzerland.
The 26-year-old left it late before passing Sandra Naeslund to top the podium, with the Swede forced to settle for silver while France's Alizee Baron claimed bronze.
Baron edged out Canadian Brittany Phelan en route to completing the podium.
Thompson finished the season third overall with 656 points as Switzerland's Fanny Smith collected enough points in the small final to win the Crystal Globe.
Canada's Kelsey Serwa and India Sherret took the top two spots in the small final, ensuring top-10 overall results for both.
