The DRS will be used for Sunday's GP2 sprint race at Barcelona after problems suffered during Saturday's event.
GP2 boss Bruno Michel said after race one that the series would investigate the problem, which led to the DRS being unusable for a significant proportion of the feature race, and only use it for race two if it was "100 per cent sure" there would not be a repeat.
But it has now been confirmed that the DRS, which operates on the same timing system as the one used for Formula 1 using the same activation zones and detection areas, can be used again.
Arden International driver Norman Nato starts on pole position ahead of DAMS driver Pierre Gasly.
GP2 debutant Nick Yelloly, who lines up for the returning Hilmer Motorsport squad, must start from the pitlane.
This is because he was given a three-place grid penalty for causing a collision with Carlin's Julian Leal at Turn 10 during the feature race.
As he was set to line up at the back of the grid anyway after failing to finish, his penalty is turned into a pitlane start.
