Nov 11 (Reuters) - Two horses have been euthanized after suffering injuries on Sunday in races 90 minutes apart at Del Mar racetrack in southern California, officials said.
The deaths were the first this year in competition at the track near San Diego. There have been 37 deaths at the Santa Anita track near Los Angeles since December. Ghost Street, a three-year-old gelding, suffered a front leg injury in the third race on the Del Mar turf course.
Three races later, Prayer Warrior, a three-year-old colt, was pulled up on the far turn of the dirt track with a front leg injury.
Both horses were later euthanized, track officials said.
Four other horses died in training accidents during the track's summer racing season, which ended on Sept. 2, NBCSandiego.com reported. (Reporting by Gene Cherry in Salvo, North Carolina; Editing by Ken Ferris)
