Islanders 5, Penguins 3
Anders Lee scored the tiebreaking goal with 26.6 seconds remaining as the New York Islanders avoided a disastrous collapse by edging the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-3 on Wednesday night.
The Islanders led 3-0 entering the third before Conor Sheary, Justin Schultz and Evgeni Malkin scored in a span of a little less than 13 minutes for the Penguins.
Matt Murray recorded 25 saves for the Penguins, who have lost six of 10 (4-5-1).
Flames 3, Maple Leafs 0
Chad Johnson made 39 saves and the Calgary Flames rode a quick start to a 3-0 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Freddie Hamilton and Kris Versteeg scored for the Flames in the first minute, while Johnson recorded his third shutout of the season.
Matt Stajan also scored for the Flames, who are the first team to score twice in the opening minute of a game since the Philadelphia Flyers accomplished the feat on April 9, 2011 against the New York Islanders.
Sharks 4, Kings 1
Logan Couture had two goals and an assist, and Ryan Carpenter scored his first NHL goal, leading the San Jose Sharks 4-1 over the Los Angeles Kings.
Martin Jones stopped 26 shots as the Sharks remained atop of the Pacific Division. Kevin Labanc also scored and Joel Ward registered two assists for the Sharks, winners of five of their last six.
Peter Budaj had 20 saves and Dustin Brown scored for the Kings, who had their season-high five-game winning streak halted.
