Nash, a free agent, reportedly has told teams he won't be on the market July
1. He has played in 1,060 regular-season games and missed three weeks late
last season with a concussion.
Nash's agent, Joe Resnick, told media outlets on Thursday that Nash was unsure
whether he would play again. Resnick didn't define what the health issues
were.
Resnick told ESPN that Nash wanted teams to know of his situation in order to
be forthright. Resnick also shot down speculation that Nash is looking to sit
out this summer's free agency in order to find a contender to join midseason.
"Rick has the utmost ethics and integrity," Resnick told ESPN. "We turned down
a lot of money. Let's put it that way."
Nash finished last season with the Boston Bruins, who acquired him in a trade
with the New York Rangers. He scored 21 goals last season, including three for
the Bruins in 11 games.
Nash, 34, began his career with the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2002 before being
traded to the Rangers in 2012.
He has 437 career goals -- 67th on the NHL's career list -- and 368 assists.
He led the NHL in goals with 41 in 2003-04 and tallied a career-high 42 goals
in 2014-15.
The Brampton, Ontario, native won Olympic gold medals with Canada in 2010 and
2014.
