At their annual March meetings, the league's general managers spent their
entire session discussing the league's review process for the call.
On Wednesday, they called for coaches' challenges to the interference calls to
be reviewed at the league's situation room in Toronto, rather than leaving it
to the on-ice referees to judge.
The referees would still be involved, but a member of the NHL Officiating
Management Team would join in the evaluation.
The rule itself would not change.
While it could go into effect by April 11, it first has to be approved by the
board of governors and the players union.
Other topics on the agenda for the general managers were the offside rule and
player safety and fights that occur after legal hits.
