NHL roundup: Knights set record for expansion points

The Golden Knights (40-16-4, 84 points) broke the mark of 83 points in a
season set by the 1993-94 Panthers. Florida accomplished the feat in 80 games,
finishing 33-34-17. Wednesday was just the 60th game for Vegas, which also won
for 23rd time at home, breaking the previous expansion mark of 22 set by
Gordie Howe and the Hartford Whalers in 1979-80.

Ryan Carpenter, William Karlsson, Reilly Smith, Alex Tuch, Luca Sbisa, Erik
Haula and Cody Eakin all had goals for the Western Conference-leading Golden
Knights, and Marc-Andre Fleury made 28 saves.

TJ Brodie, Dougie Hamilton, Matthew Tkachuk scored for Calgary, which lost for
just the eighth time on the road in 30 road games.

Blackhawks 3, Senators 2 (SO)

Nick Schmaltz buried the decisive goal in the shootout to lead Chicago past
visiting Ottawa.

Schmaltz's decisive tally came in the seventh round of the shootout.
Blackhawks goalie Anton Forsberg proceeded to stop Mark Stone's attempt to
seal the win.

Patrick Kane (23rd goal) and Artem Anisimov (16th) each scored in regulation
for Chicago, which won for the second time in three games. Zack Smith and Matt
Duchene had the goals for Ottawa.

Ducks 2, Stars 0

Ryan Getzlaf had a goal and an assist, and Ryan Miller stopped 41 shots as
Anaheim topped visiting Dallas.

It was Miller's third shutout of the season. Miller has stopped 61 shots over
the past four periods after not allowing a goal in the third period of the
Ducks' 2-0 win over the Golden Knights on Monday while playing in relief of
injured No. 1 goaltender John Gibson.

The Ducks recorded their fourth consecutive victory, their longest winning
streak this season. Hampus Lindholm scored the game's first goal on a
first-period power play, and Getzlaf added a short-handed goal in the third
period.
