German judoka Dominic Ressel upstaged European champion Sagi Muki to claim -81kg Grand Slam victory with South Korea the big winners on the final day in Paris.
The 25-year-old, silver medallist in the European Championships two years ago, won gold by Ippon with his Israeli opponent denied victory earlier on by a video referee commission decision.
The French faithful were on their feet later in the evening as reigning continental champion Madeleine Malonga pushed past Germany's Luise Malzahn in -78kg.
Malonga, who staged a memorable victory over compatriot and double Olympic medallist Audrey Tcheumeo earlier this week, won by Ippon after a bout lasting just over two minutes.
The Paris native negotiated five fights to claim France's second gold medal of the competition.
Elsewhere on the final night of fighting, Korea bagged two gold medals with Gwak Dong-Han and Kim Sung-min victorious in women's -78kg and men's +100kg respectively.
