Ronda Rousey gives UFC championship belt to Brazilian judo school

The UFC superstar visited Instituto Reacao, owned by Olympic bronze medallist Flavio Canto, which will be the permanent home of the prize for her seventh title defence in the organisation.

Rousey visited the same facility last September to lead the children who train there for a session.

The 28-year-old Olympic judo bronze medallist has now been good to her word that she would leave the belt in 'a special place' in Brazil if, as expected, she defeated Correia in her home town.

"Bethe did have one thing right," Rousey said prior to the fight.

"She said that the Brazilian people deserve to have the belt left here. So I've decided that after I win it, I'm going to make sure that when I have the belt, I don't take it home with me. I'm going to give it and make sure that it stays someplace in Brazil as my gift."

Rousey claimed victory with a flurry of punches that left Correia face down on the floor of the Octagon.

After being inspired by her visit in March, Rousey returned to the Instituto Reacao in March to give them a US$30,000 donation following her win over Cat Zingano in 14 seconds.

Among those clamouring for autographs from Rousey on her latest visit was Sarah Menezes, the 25-year-old who became the first Brazilian woman to win Olympics gold in judo when she did so at London 2012 by beating defending champion Alina Dumitru.

Rousey's mother AnnMaria De Mars was by her side as she made the presentation of the belt. In 1984, three years before Rousey was born, De Mars became the first American to win the world judo championships.
