Jan Bartu believes it can only get better for Britain's athletes at the Modern Pentathlon European Championships after a second medal was won in the men's team relay on day two.

A day after Katy Burke, Kate French and Samantha Murray won women's team relay gold, the British trio of Jamie Cooke, Sam Curry and Joe Evans claimed bronze in the men's equivalent. Third after the fencing, the British three led following the swimming relay but were back down to their initial position after the fencing upon the conclusion of the ride in Poland. And that was where they stayed after the combined run-shoot with France taking gold and the Czech Republic silver and Pentathlon GB performance director Bartu confident of more medals. "We've had a fantastic start to the Championships and I'm hoping the momentum will help the athletes over the next five days," said Bartu. "This medal was a very significant one and another benchmark target accomplished. It's been a long struggle to get to this point with the men's team.
"It's just the start of a longer journey for them. They handled the pressure well, they were there for each other and they looked very solid in a tough combined event."
