Spies finds 1:49.748 to move from fifth to fourth while Hayden has crashed out!

Crutchlow improves but only to 1:49.576 and stays third!

Lorenzo now up by two-tenths on his latest flyer... and his lap-time is 1:49.404! Enough for provisional pole!

Lorenzo has improved to 1:49.951 for second and Pedrosa's time is 1:49.534! He's on pole if it stays this way! Jorge now third.

But just as he closes on Crutchlow, the Briton responds with a storming 1:49.718! The track conditions improving.

Pedrosa takes over in P2 with 1:50.373.

Dovi now third and Pedrosa fourth. Over two-tenths behind Cal.

The top order then: Crutchlow, Bradl, Lorenzo, Spies, Pedrosa, Dovioso, Hayden, Rossi, Rea, Bautista.

Rossi takes eighth back from Rea. No sign of the rain coming back imminently, although there are plenty of dark clouds.

Jonas Folger captured his first pole position in grand prix racing after a thrilling Moto3 qualifying session on a drying Aragon track.

Rossi's Ducati team-mate Nicky Hayden up in fifth now and back in the garage.

Pedrosa puts in his first lap since returning to the fray, and it is good enough for 16th.

Andrea Dovizioso is now second on the Tech 3, two-tenths off the pace.

Lorenzo's pace now 1:51.197 - the standings leader will be mentally rubbing his hands together at his countryman's crash.

Yonny Hernandez now crashes out at the same point as Pedrosa! Maybe it was just a damp spot after all rather than the white line. He is also able to jog away.

Ben Spies now goes off the track but is able to rejoin without any trouble on the Yamaha factory bike.

Spaniard Pedrosa touched the paint and slid out. Lorenzo now on top with a time of a minute 51.379 seconds.

Stefan Bradl leads the way from Jorge Lorenzo and Briton Cal Crutchlow.

He looks okay after getting to his feet, holding his wrist, but his Honda is a different matter. Bits of carbon fibre everywhere!

The weather could be a major factor this weekend - at the moment it is cloudy and dark, but the rain has subsided. Installation laps all round while the asphalt is dry.
