We'll be back for the race on Sunday... make sure you join us again then.

-

Spies will start seventh, ahead of Pedrosa, Edwarrds and Capirossi.

-

Lorenzo and Simoncelli join Stoner on the front row while Bautista, Dovizioso and Hayden make up the second row.

0'

There's the flag and Casey Stoner wins his fourth successive Phillip Island pole!

1'

That's it for Pedrosa - and he'll start on the third row at best.

2'

Pedrosa's down in eighth at the moment... he needs something big at the death if he's to improve.

3'

Bautista doesn't last long there though as Simoncelli shunts him back to the second row.

4'

Stoner improves again - 1:29.975 is the time to beat now - as Bautista moves up onto the front row!

6'

Stoner improves his best time to 1:29.981 and another pole position for the Aussie looks odds on now!

8'

Lorenzo and Hayden romp onto the front row, leaving Simoncelli, Pedrosa and Dovizioso on the second row.

11'

So, with just over 10 minutes left, Stoner is in pole position, followed by Simoncelli, Pedrosa, Lorenzo, Dovizioso and Spies.

13'

Lorenzo was unhappy with Bautista... he's still fuming as he waits to get back out on track.

15'

Rossi is down in 15th place at the moment. This has been a weekend to forget for the Doctor.

16'

Not for long! Stoner delivers with just over a quarter of an hour remaining as he sets the benchmark of 1:30.042 - and claims provisional pole!

17'

Dovizioso storms round to move third, pushing Stoner back into fourth!

18'

Stoner leaves the pits and surely we can expect more from him now.

19'

Simoncelli is currently in fifth, ahead of Dovizioso, Capirossi, De Puniet, Bautista and Edwards.

20'

The day's other big faller, Ben Spies, puts in a storming lap to go fourth - great determination from the American.

21'

Aoyama is off his bike... he's hobbling gingerly but it looks like he'll be ok.

22'

Lorenzo is back in the garage and he doesn't look happy about something.

26'

Lorenzo is looking good but lose about half a second in the final split and as long as he does that he's not going to knock Pedrosa off his perch.

28'

Pedrosa blitzes through to set the fastest time of the session - a 1:30.871.

28'

Pedrosa jumps up into fourth place with a lap of 1:31.372.

29'

Spies is back in the Yamaha Factory Racing garage and he's stretching off. Surely he's in some pain, but he looks like he's going to try to ignore it.

30'

Half way through the qualification session as Capirossi wobbles a little on his way through.

33'

Bautista edges Edwards out of sixth as news reaches us that Spies will be back on track before too long.

36'

There's a bit of a lull at the moment in this qualification session. Nearly half way through.

38'

Spies is at the medical centre... he was holding his ribs as he entered.

40'

Hayden continues to improve, creeping up to sixth now.

41'

Stoner's off his bike, but it doesn't look like he's dropped it.

42'

Rossi, who's endured a tough weekend so far, is down in 11th at the moment.

43'

Hayden moves up to seventh, behind Ayoama, De Puniet, Dovizioso, Simoncelli, Stoner and leader Lorenzo.

46'

Lorenzo improves to a 1:30.991 and Stoner is still looking to topple the Yamaha Factory Racing man.

48'

Aoyama moves up to fourth as the local fans watch on, wondering when Stoner is going to hit the top of the timesheets.

50'

So, Lorenzo leads from Stoner, De Puniet and Pedrosa.

52'

There's someone off at Turn 3... it's Ben Spies! He's having to be helped away by stewards in pink jackets... that doesn't look good at all.

54'

De Puniet follows suit to move into provisional second as the sun actually peeps out from behind the clouds.

55'

Lorenzo sets down an early marker with a 1:31.488.

57'

Here's hot favourite Stoner now, looking good as he blazes round on his Honda.

58'

Of course, Casey Stoner has been the form man so far this weekend at his home GP and the Aussie is definitely the rider to beat.

59'

Today's temperature is 17 degrees...

60'

We we go then... an hour of qualifying for the Aussie GP at a typically blustery Phillip Island circuit!
