"I made a few mistakes early on," says Stoner. "Conditions have been tough all week long, but today was just about staying consistent and getting out there on your own."

-

Thanks for joining us today. A fine win for Casey Stoner, who increases his lead over Pedrosa to 44 points in the championship.

-

Lorenzo fourth and Dovizioso in fifth at the brickyard.

-

A brilliant victory for Stoner with Pedrosa second and Spies in third. A fine race, but Stoner was always in control.

1'

A winning day for Stoner, who is just teasing his car towards the finishing line.

2'

Hayden heading back to finish. He is going back out for the point. Meanwhile, Stoner is on the last lap and about to claim the victory.

3'

Nicky Hayden is calling it a day. Not the best of days for him, but the front tyre seems to have gone. Quit while you are ahead..or well behind.

4'

Stoner just applying the finishing touches to this victory. Cajoling this bike through the various twists and turns. 4.34 seconds ahead of Pedrosa. A nice comfortable gap and distance between him and the chasing pack.

5'

Suddenly Rossi is up to 12th place. The Italian is cutting a dash through this field. Same can't be said for Nicky Hayden who is having problems as he limps round the track with a couple of 1.46s...

6'

Stoner set to open up a lead of 44 points over Pedrosa in the Championship. Can't really be complaining about his afternoon's work so far.

7'

Stoner with a lead of 4.5 seconds over Pedrosa. He has got the race in the bag, but still quite a fercious battle for the rest of this GP.

7'

Abraham has called it a day as another Ducati bites the dust. Front tyre and imbalance really costing some of these riders dearly.

8'

Spies is seven seconds behind Pedrosa. Would be interesting to see if he can chase down the man in second spot. What an effort this would be if he can claim second.

9'

Rossi is in 15th position. He is giving it a go down the field. Capirossi has called it a day intimating that he lost all feeling in the front tyre.

10'

Stoner is set to win this race as long as he stays on the bike. Simoncelli seems to be heading backwards. Problems with the front tyre has come back to haunt his race.

11'

Just in case you are wondering Rossi is still circulating. Not sure what is going on there, but he is still out there. Spies and Lorenzo almost collided, but Spies is through to third spot.

12'

Spies is set to go past Lorenzo here. He is right on his shoulder. This is exceptional riding from Spies as he eases into third spot.

13'

Spies is going faster than Stoner out there, but it makes little difference because of the sluggish start. Stoner biting chunks out of Pedrosa at the moment with those 1.40 laps.

14'

With 14 to go the gap now down to 1.673 between Lorenzo and Spies. Spies tracking third place out there.

15'

Spies 11 seconds behind the front two, but just over two seconds behind third-placed Lorenzo. Spies going round this track like a hot knife through butter.

16'

Stoner 2.214 seconds ahead of Pedrosa in first place.

17'

So 17 to go at the Brickyard. The real battle is for fourth place with Stoner looking very good to bring home the bacon as the winner of this race.

18'

A real battle between Spies and Dovizioso for fourth place with Simoncelli holding them off. Spies really enjoying himself out there.

20'

Valentino Rossi is at the back of the field and coasting. He obviously has problems with the bike.

20'

Stoner 1.030 ahead of Pedrosa as they come up to 20 laps to go.

21'

Stoner hunting down Pedrosa with 21 laps to go. 1.39.182 from Stoner. Fastest lap from Stoner and a track record as he nudges ahead of Pedrosa.

22'

Bit of gap opening up between the leading two of Pedrosa and Stoner. A two-way battle for the lead between the top boys.

23'

Pedrosa continues to lead this one with the gap between second-placed Stoner and Lorenzo in third at 2.675

24'

Stoner's fastest lap is 1.39.949, but Stoner looking to pick it up and close down the leader with 24 to go.

25'

25 laps to go with Pedrosa setting the pace at the Brickyard.

26'

A gap of 0.442 between Pedrosa and Stoner with 26 to go.

26'

Pedrosa, Stoner and Lorenzo set the pace with 26 laps to go. Impressive stuff from Pedrosa. He is not in the hunt for the championship, but he is doing the business so far.

27'

Cracking pace from Pedrosa out there. What a start. He has started like a house on fire. Scorchio from Pedrosa...

28'

We are off and running. Good start from Pedrosa and Lorenzo with Stoner back into third...

-

They are off on their warm up lap. 80 degrees out there today. Nice and hot. Wonder if the pace Stoner and the boys will set today will be as hot...blistering probably...

-

"I think overtaking is going to be really difficult," says Casey Stoner.

-

Just about 20 minutes until we are off and running in the MotoGP from Indianpolis. A 7pm start for this one. A relaid surface, but let us hope it holds up.
