There is it - Jorge Lorenzo finishes the race safely with Dani Pedrosa a distant second and Nicky Hayden crossing in third

Colin Edwards is slow close to finishing the race in third with just one lap remaining but his bike just conks out on him and now it is Nicky Hayden on for a podium finish

Two laps to go and Lorenzo has a 15 second lead over Pedrosa so he can afford to sit back a little and just make sure he stays upright

SPIES CRASHES OUT! The American loses the bike coming into turn five and he goes skidding off into the gravel. He doesn't even try to resum his race, he knows it's over and he cuts a dejected figure on the side of the track

So with three laps to go it's Lorenzo who has theis race wrapped up, unless he crashes. He leads from Spies and Pedrosa

A bit of a mistake from Pedrosa as he comes out of turn five as the bike sits up on the Spanaird and Spies takes full advantage to race through for second. Easy for the American there after that little error from Pedrosa.

Spies is making a move for second having worked hard to close what was previously a three second gap to Pedrosa. The Spaniard is just about holding his line but they will be coming up to turn one shortly and that'll be Spies best opportunity to pass

Crutchlow has taken a spill into the gravel and has lost his place in fifth as a result, although he will remain in the race. Lorenzo on the other hand is cracking on up at the front as he now takes a six second lead over compatriot Pedrosa

Lorenzo has put get more distance between himself and Pedrosa as his lead has grown to 4.5 seconds. The rain is beginning to come down more heavily once again after a period of letting off for a little while

Randy de Puniet, who was sitting in 10th, is out. He took a bit of a spill and while he managed to get back up and on the bike, he couldn't get it going once again

Lorenzo continues to hold the lead, responding to a bit of a charge from Pedrosa by picking up his own pace and maintain his lead - he leads his compatriot by roughly three seconds

So it's Lorenzo from Pedrosa and Ben Spies. Nicky Hayden is in fourth but is closely followed by Cal Crutchlow, whose last lap was the fastest of the riders left on the track

Simoncelli is out. His right handlebar was sticking out at an ominous angle and it the end it just proved too difficult to get the bike going again

SIMONCELLI GOES DOWN! Completely unchallenged, Simoncelli first loses the front slightly and as he looks to correct himself, the bike bucks and kicks until it sends it's rider flying. He doesn't appear to be hurt although he will need a marshall to help get the bike upright once again

Simoncelli has a three second lead over Lorenzo and then Pedrosa, who has risen lazarus-like from his shockingly poor start

Pedrosa takes Spies in fourth. The ride on side-by-side for a while as the American tries to hold off the persitant Spaniard but in the end Pedrosa does take over and gets fourth

The Australian is clearly furious, bashing his helmet with his fist, as he walks off the track back towards the garages. It looks as though he couldn't get the bike going again and that's his race over

Rossi gets helped back up onto his bike and is recieving most of the help from the marshalls as Stoner appears to have everything covered. Rossi heads off as Stoner desperately tries to get a push start from the marshalls

STONER AND ROSSI COLLIDE AND BOTH GO DOWN! Rossi tries to sneak inside Stoner but has too much speed heading into a right hand turn and the bike slips from underneath him taking out Stoner in the process. Both skid off the track, Rossi pinned underneath the bikes and Stoner is desperate to get his back without losing too much time to Simoncelli

Rossi takes third, going down the inside of Lorenzo on a right hand turn. The Italian has now gone from 12th to third in just six laps. He's having a storming race!

SIMONCELLI TAKES THE LEAD! The Italian sneaks inside Lorenzo into second before almost immediately repeating the move to cheekily overtake Stoner. The Australian did not see that coming until it was too late and he couldn't cut Simoncelli off!

Rossi is up to third having taken Dovizioso and his was the fastest lap by two tenths of a second the last time around. Simoncelli in third is firnly in the Italian's sights now

Stroner leads Lorenzo and Simoncelli at the end of lap three, the Australian enjoying a bit of breathing space so far. Dovizioso is still just about fending off the attentions of Rossi back in fourth

Rossi races past Nicky Hayden, wasting no time as he works his way up through the field. He's already challenging for fourth place despite starting way back in 12th

By the end of the first lap Pedrosa has dropped from second, out of the first corner, to 10. He is not looking happy with things and has put in a very, very tentative first lap

And there are off - Stoner and Lorenzo getting away very well with the former holding the lead from pole as they come out of the first corner

The riders are off on their warm-up lap already as the rain continues to lash down at Jerez De La Frontera
