Nature Valley International, Eastbourne: Wozniacki beats Sabalenka to clinch title

The Dane, who won her first Grand Slam at the Australian Open in January, took a close match 7-5 7-6 (5) in what is ideal preparation for Wimbledon next week.

The top seed was made to work for the title, however, after her hard-hitting Belarusian opponent served for both sets and then led 4-1 in the tiebreak.
"It's a long time ago that I was a winner of this tournament so it's amazing I can still play 10 years later," Wozniaki said.
Despite the defeat, Sabalenka, the world No 45, will be buoyed by her progress. She begins her Wimbledon campaign against Romania's Mihaela Buzarnescu, Wozniacki, who is the No 2 seed at SW19, will face American Varvara Lepchenko.
