Jarl Magnus Riiber delight at back-to-back home triumphs

After winning the first of a weekend double-header in Trondheim on Saturday, the 21-year-old went one better as he recovered from a sub-par jumping round to surge to victory in the cross-country.

Sitting down in 11th after earning 88.9 points from his 129.5m jump – 25.4 fewer than leader Szczepan Kupczak – Riiber had plenty of work to do if he was to protect his lead at the top of the World Cup standings.

But a dominant display on the snow – a hallmark of his performances over the weekend – saw him burst ahead of the pack to seal victory in 25:15.0, 1.2s ahead of Vinzenz Geiger in second, with Joergen Graabak completing the podium.

"Not perfect, but two victories, so I'm happy," he said afterwards.

"It's a little bit sad to not be the best ski jumper – that's what I want to be – but, of course, when I can fight for the best cross-country time as well I can't explain it, but I'm very happy."
