North Wales Crusaders are looking for new owners on the eve of the new Kingstone Press League 1 season.
The Wrexham club's board are inviting formal expressions of interest and say they are prepared to make a majority shareholding available to the right people.
The announcement follows the recent decision of majority shareholder Jamie Thomas to step down as chief executive. He was behind the launch of the club at the Racecourse Ground in 2011 following the demise of the old Super League club.
A spokesman said: "In the last four seasons, the club has won the League 1 bowl, the iPro Cup and the league leaders shield. With attendances surpassing four figures and a playing staff and squad poised to make a real impact in League 1 this season, the board feel that all the ingredients are in place for a successful return to the Championship in early course and, at the right time, to Super League."
Any change of ownership would be subject to approval by the Rugby Football League.
The Crusaders open the 2016 season at Doncaster next Sunday.
