WELLINGTON, June 17 (Reuters) - All Blacks flyhalf Beauden Barrett and loose forward Vaea Fifita have been ruled out of the third test against France in Dunedin due to concussion, the team said on Sunday.
Loose forward Liam Squire is also doubtful with a shoulder injury, prompting the uncapped Jackson Hemopo to be brought into the squad as cover.
Wellington Hurricanes hooker Ricki Riccitelli has also been drafted in with Nathan Harris returning home to attend the birth of his first child.
Barrett's absence was not unexpected after the versatile back failed a head injury assessment (HIA) during the 26-13 second test victory in Wellington when he landed heavily while attempting to catch a high kick.
France fullback Benjamin Fall was shown a red card for the 12th minute incident when he collided with an airborne Barrett. His disciplinary hearing will be held later on Sunday.
All Blacks inside centre Sonny Bill Williams could be on track for a return for the game in Dunedin, after initially being ruled out following knee surgery.
Williams trained with the side all week in Wellington and told TVNZ before Saturday's game that he felt like he could play in Dunedin.
"I'll be fighting for selection next week," he said.
"A little bit surprised myself... the surgery went well, it was a success and they said I could get back on the horse straight away so here I am." (Reporting by Greg Stutchbury; Editing by John O'Brien)
