Coward-Holley happy with progress in Olympic Trap discipline

The 22-year-old finished top in the qualification round earlier this month before then placing second in the final in Portugal in a field that featured some tough competition such as Jiri Liptak, Jose Faria and fellow Brit Mark Shaw.

With the ISSF looking likely to remove the discipline of Double Trap from future Olympic Games, Coward-Holley has made the decision to move to Olympic Trap sooner rather than later as he sets his sights on future success on the world stage.

And while he will still be shooting Double Trap if he gets selected for next year's Commonwealth Games in Australia, the Brit was delighted to medal in his new discipline.

"To win a silver this early on in my Olympic Trap career is a big mental boost for me as I have been shooting a lot of Olympic Trap at home over the last few months. To transfer that to an overseas competition is a big boost for me," he said.

"In the final there was one Olympic Medalist and one winner of numerous World Cups so the competition was of a very, very high standard.

"This gives me great confidence with my transition into Olympic trap and moving forward knowing I can compete at the highest Level this early on.

"Olympic trap will now be my main focus but I will be shooting Double Trap in my bid to be selected for the Commonwealth Games."
