World champion Jacqueline Loelling leads after two runs with a time of 1:43.86.
Yarnold, 29, broke the course record to lead after the first run but, with a cumulative time of 1:43.96, had to settle for third spot going into tomorrow’s third and fourth runs.
Janine Flock of Austria sits between Yarnold and Loelling with a time of 1:43.88.
Team GB’s Deas put herself firmly in contention for a medal after she improved from sixth to fourth and is now just 0.17 seconds behind defending Olympic champion Yarnold.
