Ryoyu Kobayashi capped off a stunning season in style as he broke the course record at Planica and lifted the second Planica7 title.
Coming into the final weekend of the season Kobayashi was already the World Cup winner, the first non-European to do so.
The 22-year-old had to settle for second behind Markus Eisenbichler in the first contest of the weekend but he pulled out all the stops for the final jump of the season.
In the opening jump he flew an astonishing 252.0m to set the course record for Planica.
That was more than enough to seal victory despite some impressive jumping from the rest of the pack in the second run.
He beat out local favourite Domen Prevc, who finished on the podium in front of his home fans to continue the fine end to the season for the teenager.
Kobayashi’s victory caps a truly remarkable season that saw him demolish all of those before him and afterwards he was lost for words simply saying, “I cannot believe it.”
As well as winning the overall World Cup title and the Planica7 title he also won the Raw Air, Willingen Five and Ski Flying titles.
And of course he also won a historic Four Hills Grand Slam, just the third man to do so.
