Austrian Daniela Iraschko-Stolz hailed her "awesome" first jump after she came out on top in the first competition of the women's ski jumping World Cup in Zao.
The 35-year-old posted jumps of 93.5m and 92.5m to register 20.2 points, with home favourite Sara Takanashi finishing second with 203.5 points for her two leaps.
Takanashi, who dominated the women's World Cup circuit last season, edged out Katharina Althaus to finish second on the podium as the Austrian took third on 203.2 points.
Training and qualification had to be cancelled before the competition due to snowfall and wind, but the event was able to go ahead despite the difficult conditions.
Iraschko-Stolz's victory means she sits third in the World Cup standings on 414, with Norway's Maren Lundby second on 488 and Althaus leading the way currently on 590.
"I'm very happy about the result," said Iraschko-Stolz after the event. "My first jump was pretty awesome, I jumped much further than in yesterday's training round.
"The conditions were not easy, usually, there's a lot of headwind in Zao, but there was a lot of side wind right after the take-off."
Takanashi was also happy with her performance in testing conditions. "I'm very satisfied, especially because my technique is not good at the moment," she said.
"In Zao, it has been getting better and better with each jump. The conditions were not easy today, but I just tried to focus on my jumps."
