Coming into the final event of the Raw Air Kobayashi was trailing Austria’s Stefan Kraft by 8.5 points.
The pair could hardly be separated in the first jump, with Kobayashi 0.5m ahead before Kraft jumped a relatively disappointing 229.5m in his second attempt.
By contrast Kobayashi flew down the course and went a staggering 239.0m which gave him a total score of 454.6, 12.4 more than Kraft.

Kobayashi takes Raw Air title after fabulous second jump

Kobayashi’s Raw Air title goes along with his Four Hills Grand Slam and his lead in the World Cup.
The title on the day in Norway went to 19-year-old Prevc to cap off a terrific weekend for Slovenia that saw them win the team event as well.
It is also a welcome return to form for the hugely talented Prevc after a tough couple of years

Sensational Prevc wins in Vikersund

After a sensational breakout period at the end of 2016, where he won four events in less than a month, Prevc has really struggled.
The youngest of the three Prevc brothers, after Peter (26) and Cene (23), he has long been tipped as one of the potential stars of the sport.
Victory at Vikersund could hopefully prove to be a turning point in the teenager’s career.
