Alpine Skiing news - Kristoffersen maintains impressive giant slalom form with Kranjska Gora win

Kristoffersen won giant slalom gold at the World Championship in Are in early February – his first world title – and has now also been victorious in the two World Cup races in the discipline since.

After the race was delayed for two hours due to fog in Slovenia, the Norwegian laid down a time of 1:14.25 minutes on the first run to earn a lead that he maintained second time around – clinching victory by 0.24s.

Kristoffersen's compatriot Rasmus Windingstad took a surprise silver – with his previous best World Cup finish being seventh – while bronze went to another first-time World Cup podium finisher, Marco Odermatt of Switzerland.

Odermatt took bronze with a brilliant second run, clocking the fastest time of the day (1:11.80) after lying 15th following the first run.

Overall World Cup leader Marcel Hirscher had a poor second run to drop from fourth to sixth, while Kristoffersen's triumph sees him become the first Norwegian man to win multiple World Cup giant slalom races in a season since Aksel Lund Svindal in 2006-07.
