The Rocket was pushed hard by Perry who put an end to O'Sullivan's run of 12 straight frames when he equalised to level the match at 1-1. But after drawing level again at 2-2 with a massive break of 139, the highest of the tournament so far, O'Sullivan raced to victory and finished things off with a century of his own.

'Unbelievable!' - O'Sullivan seals victory with classy century

"He missed a couple but that's the way the game goes," said O'Sullivan. I enjoyed it, I tried not to get bogged down and reign it in a bit. I was a bit slow tonight, a bit sluggish, I wasn't too sure."
O'Sullivan will now face Selby in the next round and the Rocket had plenty to say about that in the studio, when asked by Andy Goldstein why he was laughing O'Sullivan replied
"I've got to play Selby now haven't I?
If I had know that I might have let Joe win!

I might have let Joe win if I had known! - O'Sullivan not relishing Selby clash

"No I'm only joking, hopefully he livens up a bit. I don't want any six and a half minute shots
"I can't be doing that, I'll crack. I'll have to give it to him. If he wants it that bad he can have it."
As for Selby, he eased into the quarter-finals with a 4-0 victory over Jimmy Robertson, scoring breaks of 66 and 64.
Elsewhere, Neil Robertson was thrashed 4-0 in under an hour by Thepchaiya Un-Nooh.
The Australian world No. 4 barely made it to the table as he was well beaten by 34-year-old world No. 34 Un-Nooh.
Un-Nooh put together breaks of 81, 78 and 74 as he raced to victory, with Robertson managing just 72 points across all four frames.
Home favourite John Higgins also suffered a humbling defeat at the hands of Jack Lisowski. 28-year-old world no. 14 hit breaks of 95, 74, 84 and 54 on his way to victory. He managed to stay ahead of Higgins from the start, despite the Scot's replies of 89 and an impressive 109 which was the 776th century of his career, moving him out into second on his own, behind only O'Sullivan.
And another big gun bit the dust as Shaun Murphy was sent home by David Gilbert after their match finished 4-2. Breaks of 90 and 84 were not enough for Murphy who fought his way back from 2-0 down to level things at 2-2. Gilbert held his nerve and held off the fight back, taking the final two frames for a place in the quarter-finals.
World no. 26 Scott Donaldson also made his way into the quarter-finals after beating Zhang Jiankang 4-2.
