The Rocket is just three frames from victory after opening up a 7-2 lead in the best-of-19 match.
In a high-quality session, a 50+ break was recorded in every frame, with O’Sullivan posting knocks of 116 and 105 to creep closer to the magical mark.
O’Sullivan has previously claimed that he may delay reaching 1000 centuries – and also hinted that he would do it at a Eurosport event.
"I’m going to get to 999 [centuries] and then I’ll just keep you all waiting. 100%," he told Eurosport last year.
"I will get quite a kick out of that. Then I’ll pick and choose which tournament I’ll get my 1000. It’ll definitely be a Eurosport event. They’ve been so loyal to me, good to me, I’ll let them decide where they want the 1000th century."
