Holt - who has enjoyed two wins over Ronnie O'Sullivan in recent weeks - made breaks of 61, 69, 54, 68 and 74 to oust the 2010 world champion Robertson, whose breaks of 76 and 61 were not enough to deny the Nottingham player.
John Higgins defeated Mark Williams 6-4 earlier on Wednesday to secure his place in the last eight.
Williams and Higgins didn't give each other any breathing room as they exchanged the lead during the opening frames of the match.
They couldn't be separated in the first eight frames as they went into the final three frames at 4-4 following some impressive snooker on both sides.

The Scotsman will face Ali Carter in the next round, who caused a shock by defeating Judd Trump 6-4 on Tuesday.
There were also wins for former world champions Stuart Bingham and Shaun Murphy. Bingham downed Liang Wenbo 6-2 while Shaun Murphy watched Joe Perry recover from trailing 4-0 to level at 4-4 before winning the final frames to complete a 6-4 success.
