Stuart Bingham eased into the English Open semi-finals on Friday sinking Ali Carter 5-2, with Mark Davis also progressing courtesy of a 5-1 win over Ryan Day.
2015 world champion Bingham compiled runs of 138, 58, 70, 70, and 52 on his way to a first ranking semi-final since the 2016/17 season.
Bingham, 42, has been in imperious form at the K2 Centre in Crawley, whitewashing three of his four opponents on his way to a quarter-final showdown with The Captain, and, after another break-building masterclass, awaits the winner of Noppon Saengkham and Stephen Maguire at the semi-final stage.
On the other side of the draw, Mark Davis overcame an out-of-sorts Ryan Day 5-1 to set up a potential semi-final against Ronnie O'Sullivan.
Davis, 46, put together runs of 66 and 95 to take a 3-1 lead against Day, who, after a miscue in frame four, changed his tip - furthering hampering the Welsh cueman. Davis sealed the last two frames - compiling a 92 in frame 5 - to match his best-ever showing at a ranking event by making the semi-final.
The world number 45 will face defending champion O'Sullivan for a place in Sunday's final.
