Fifteen-year-old Jackson Page’s breakout run at the Welsh Open was ended in a third-round defeat to Judd Trump.
The Welsh schoolboy failed to make an impact against the world number four as he lost 4-0.
However, he can draw on an impressive first professional tournament, which saw him beat Jason Weston and John Astley.
“It was great out there but there were a lot of nerves and pressure too,” said Page. “I had a lot of support behind me but Judd is one of the best in the world. You won’t get many chances and when you do, you have to take them.
Now it is back to blazers and ties. It will be interesting when I go back, I don’t know what people will say. I have loved every minute of this tournament.
Mark Selby was a surprise casualty as he went down 4-1 to Yan Bingtao.
Yan made breaks of 57, 63 and 99 as he fought back from losing the first frame to progress on his 17th birthday.
Stuart Bingham, the highest-ranked player left in the draw, sailed through with a 4-0 win over Ian Burns.
