Mark Selby survived a topsy-turby clash with John Higgins to progress to the last four of the UK Championship.

The world number one led 3-0 after a blistering start, but was pegged back by Higgins and faced an early exit with the score at 5-4.

However, the 'Jester from Leicester' held his nerve to take the 11-frame contest to a decider.

And the final frame went Selby's way to earn him a spot in the last four.

In the other match of the afternoon session Shaun Murphy made short work of Luca Brecel, cruising through with a comfortable 6-1 victory.
