Murphy edges into quarters

Shaun Murphy booked his spot in the quarter-finals of the Players Tour Championship finals with a scrappy win over Ricky Walden.

Former world champion Murphy registered a 4-2 victory over Walden, who had bounced out Liang Wenbo in the first round.

Stephen Lee or Mark Davis await Murphy in the last eight.

Joining him there will be Matthew Stevens, who brushed aside Dominic Dale 4-1, and Mark Williams who whitewashed Anthony Hamilton 4-0.

In remaining games from the first round, Andrew Higginson ended young Jack Lisowski's run at the tournament with a comprehensive 4-1 win, while Jamie Jones was sent packing by Martin Gould's 4-0 victory.
