Updated 10/12/2018 at 16:54 GMT
After claiming a record seventh UK Championship title on Sunday night, Ronnie O’Sullivan has withdrawn from the Scottish Open, which starts on Monday.
O’Sullivan defeated Mark Allen 10-6 at the Barbican in York and has chosen not to contest his first-round match in Glasgow against Daniel Wells, which was scheduled to take place on Tuesday at 1pm.
World Snooker confirmed in a statement: “Ronnie O’Sullivan has withdrawn from the BetVictor Scottish Open in Glasgow.”
O’Sullivan’s triumph in York saw him surpass the previous record of six UK titles he shared with Steve Davis, as well as edging past Stephen Hendry to win a 19th ‘triple crown’ title – comprising the World and UK Championship and the Masters.
Coverage of day one of the Scottish Open starts at 12:45pm on Eurosport 1.
