Kyren Wilson managed to sneak past Barry Hawkins 6-4 in a close encounter at the Dafabet Masters.
The 2016 runner-up took the first frame with a clearance of 131, but Wilson kept up with him, moving 3-2 in front with a break of 109, and then 4-3 ahead with a break of 106.
And although Hawkins levelled up, taking the eighth frame with a break of 85, Wilson pushed through to take the final two frames and his first-ever win in this tournament.
He faces Mark Williams in the second round.
