White falls at first hurdle, Maflin fires 147

Multiple World Championship runner-up White built strong breaks to take two frames but it was not enough to advance at the expense of the 22-year-old Chinese.

The highlight of the day came from Kurt Maflin as the Norwegian fired a 147 against Stuart Carrington – it was his second maximum at a PTC event. Maflin won the match 4-1 to continue in the tournament.

It was good day for former world champion Nigel Bond who won through three rounds of action.

After defeating fellow veteran Tony Drago 4-2, he then enjoyed successes against Scott Donaldson (4-3) and John Astley (4-0).

But former world champion Graeme Dott was bounced out, losing 4-2 to Ben Woollaston in round four.
