Kyren Wilson knocked out 2015 World Champion Stuart Bingham at the Crucible on Friday evening.
Wilson led 9-7 going into the final session and the pair exchanged the opening frames to take it to 11-9 in Wilson's favour.
Bingham built the highest break of the tournament with a 137 but it wasn't enough to stop Wilson moving 12-9 ahead.
The 2015 champion looked to be on course for the first 147 at the Crucible in five years but he missed whilst on a break of 80.
In the 23rd frame Wilson finally got over the line to become the first quarter-finalist.
On the other table Liang Wenbo battled back against compatriot Ding Junhui to trail 9-7 after the second session.
Ding struggled for fluency early on as Liang started to make inroads into his lead, including a remarkable 130 break.
Eventually Ding found his rhythm and notched breaks of 91 and 94.
However Liang took the final frame of the session, entertaining the crowd until the end.
