Ryan Day is within one win of qualifying for the World Championship, but the British Open champion is far from happy with the state of his game. After battling to a 10-8 win over Ashley Hugill in the penultimate round of qualifying, Day revealed he is asking questions about his future in the sport. "I don’t know how much more I’ve got left," said the Welshman at the English Institute of Sport.

'Tremendous clearance' from Day against White

British Open champion Ryan Day has admitted he could quit the sport next year unless his form improves.
The Welsh professional completed a battling 10-8 win over Ashley Hugill in the penultimate round of World Championship qualifying, but was unhappy with his level of performance.
World No. 17 Day will meet Scott Donaldson for a Crucible spot on Wednesday after the Scotsman's 10-7 win over Yuan Sijun.
Day has reached the last eight three times at the sport's biggest event, but last qualified for the last 32 in 2018 when he lost 10-8 to Anthony McGill in the first round.
“I’ve been saying it for a long time, I don’t know how much more I’ve got left," said Day, who saw an 8-4 lead become 9-8 before scrambling over the line. "I’m fed up of playing like that.
"The odd good match, or tournament, is few and far between. I’m probably 30 or 40 points worse than when I felt like I could compete on a regular basis.
“This season is nearly done and dusted. Next year, with my ranking, I would probably be in a couple of events that would be worth my while turning up.
"If it was to carry on like that it could be my last season. The Crucible is the kind of place you either thrive and get amongst it or crumble. That is a long way off at the moment. I will focus on Wednesday and take it from there.”
