Ryan Day set up a meeting with Barry Hawkins in the World Grand Prix final on Sunday after a 6-4 victory over Marco Fu.
The 36-year-old was 4-2 down in Preston but pulled off four snookers in the eighth frame to bring the scores back to parity.
Fu, who lost to Ronnie O’Sullivan in the Masters semi-final, mustered two centuries in the match but was not able to make his early dominance pay.
The 39-year-old left Day a clearance of just 27 to win the match, which he duly accepted.
Day will now face Hawkins on Sunday after he beat China’s Liang Wenbo 6-1 on Friday.
