Charlotte Bankes just outside podium at snowboard cross World Cup
Great Britain’s Charlotte Bankes just missed out on a final place as she returned to snowboard cross World Cup action in Germany.
Confidence was high for the 23-year old after her silver medal at the recent World Championships in the USA - her first major event since switching allegiance from France to the country of her birth.
Bankes finished third in her semi-final to just miss out on advancing to contest the medals but won the small final to finish fifth overall - moving her to fourth in the overall World Cup standings.
American Lindsey Jacobellis banked her second win of the season to overtake Czech snowboarder and world champion Eva Samkova in the overall standings. Samkova settled for third in Feldberg behind Italy’s Michela Moioli, the world bronze medallist.
Australia’s Cameron Bolton won the men’s final while home boarders Paul Berg and Konstantin Schad completed the podium for Germany.
However, World Cup leader Martin Noerl didn’t make the quarter-finals, leaving the battle for the Crystal Globe wide open with events to come in Baqueira Beret and Veysonnaz.
