A magnificent effort from Chris Corning saw him claim a first slopestyle Snowboard World Cup victory of the 2018-19 season.
The American teenager, a 2017 World Championship bronze medallist in slopestyle, posted a top score of 89.10 to shoot to the summit of the standings, edging out Norwegian Staale Sandbech to success in Laax, Switzerland.
Sandbech’s score of 87.35 was good enough for silver on the day, with home fans given something to cheer in the form of Moritz Thoenen, who posted 80.55.
Colorado native Corning, 19, now leads the way in the slopestyle discipline with 1,800 points from three rounds, with Japan’s Takeru Otsuka second on 1,500 and Swede Niklas Mattsson third on 1,220.
