Marcus Kleveland and Carla Somaini soar to Big Air gold

Marcus Kleveland showed himself to be a class above in Moenchengladbach with a stunning gold-medal display in the men's Big Air World Cup.

The Norwegian snowboarder had little to no competition in Germany as he soared to the top of the podium with a score of 191.75 at Sparkassen Park.
The 18-year-old scored 94.25 in the first round and 97.50 in the third, to finish more than 20 points ahead of Yuri Okobo, who took silver to maintain top spot in the World Cup standings, while bronze went to Finland's Kalle Jarvilehto.

Meanwhile Carla Somaini's wait for a World Cup victory came to an end, striking 15th time lucky as she too was victorious in Germany.
A fantastic third run saw the Swiss rider not only win for the first time but also pick up a first podium, one individual effort of 92.50 points doing the damage in her total of 175.00

Second place went to the Japanese Miyabi Onitsuka, while New Zealand's Christy Prior took bronze.
That was enough to take Onitsuka to second in the Big Air World Cup standings on 1,960 points behind the absent Austrian Anna Gasser, who sits with 2,000 after winning the first two rounds.
