Eva Samkova clinched the Snowboard Cross Crystal Globe in style on Saturday, claiming the 13th victory of the series to contribute to her overall win.
Samkova was battling American Lindsey Jacobellis for the overall title before the event in Veysonnaz, Switzerland, but the Czech snowboarder knew the Crystal Globe was hers when Jacobellis failed to make the final.
After the win, Samkova commented: "It's great! I didn't expect the season to evolve like that. After winning the world gold I enjoyed the rest of the season and rode without pressure."
In the final, Samkova wasn't faultless but held off the challenge from France's Chloe Trespeuch, who took silver, and last year's overall winner of the World Cup, Italy’s Michela Moioli.
In the men's event it was Spain who claimed victory as Lucas Eguibar topped the podium, just ahead of Austria's Alessandro Haemmerle and Australia's Cameron Bolton.
