Back in March, the Canadian suffered horrific injuries in an off-trail crash near Whistler, picking up fractures to his jaw, left arm, pelvis, ribs as well as rupturing his spleen and suffering a collapsed left lung.
But the Sochi 2014 slopestyle bronze medallist showed he was back to form just three months out from the Olympic Winter Games with an impressive show of jumping in China.
He lead the way during qualification on Friday and then backed that up 24 hours later, scoring a combined 187.00 from his two best attempts to seal gold.
Silver went to New Zealand’s Tiarn Collins of New Zealand on 183.75 while Norway’s Torgeir Bergrem completed the podium with 179.75.
McMorris moved joint top of the Big Air World Cup standings after his win, level on 1000 points with American Chris Corning who won in Milan.
Meanwhile in the women’s competition, reigning Big Air world champion Anna Gasser comfortably eased to another gold, finishing with a total of 175.50 points.
That was comfortably clear of Japan’s Miyabi Onitsuka in second on 155.75 with Finland’s Enni Rukajarvi third on 154.00.
Series leader Gasser is unbeaten in the Big Air this season having also triumphed in Milan.
