The Dutchwoman was ninth in 40.81 seconds but bounced back in style in the evening's 3,000m event.
There Wust finished first in a time of 4:15.80 – nearly a full four seconds clear of Takagi who was second.
All that means that overall the 23-year Japanese skater is first after two events with 82.306 points, Wust is second on 83.443 with Wust's compatriot Antoinette de Jong third on 84.310.
