Chaz Davies won his second race of the World Superbikes weekend in Imola, Italy, to close the gap on Jonathan Rea at the top of the standings.
The Welsh Aruba.it Racing-Ducati rider held off the championship leader after a red flag due to the track conditions at Turn 16 to complete a perfect weekend, with pole and victory on Saturday, plus fastest lap and a second win on the Sunday.
Davies, who won both races at Imola last season as well, overtook provisional leader Tom Sykes in the middle of the race before heading to victory by just under four seconds.
Sykes, who could not hold off Rea either, finished third, with Xavi Fores fourth, Marco Melandri fifth, Alex Lowes sixth and Eugene Laverty, who suffered a terrible crash a day earlier, in seventh.
Leon Camier crashed out of second place early on after a brilliant start, while Alex De Angelis also falling.
The result means Rea sits on 235 points, with Davies on 161 in second after leapfrogging Sykes (160).
