Jonathan Rea clinches points record with Qatar win, Chaz Davies secures second in championship

Jonathan Rea beat the points record for a single season in World Superbikes after clinching his second win in two days in Qatar.

Only two victories was enough for the Northern Irishman, who had already secured his third straight title coming into the weekend, to beat Colin Edwards’ 2002 mark of 552 by four points.

Tom Sykes slides out of contention in Qatar

Davies, riding for Ducati, also picked up second place in the championship after rival Tom Sykes crashed with 16 laps remaining.
Alex Lowes came third, with Michael van der Mark 4th but the day belonged to Rea once again after he picked up his 16th win of the season and also his 16th double to draw level with the totals of Troy Bayliss and Carl Fogarty.
